Richard is a long-standing member of Newport Baptist Church. He has served on and off the diaconate as well as other leadership roles for most of his life. He is currently the Newport Baptist Church webmaster.

Richard has an advanced diploma in Telecommunications and a Diploma in Theology from Melbourne Bible Institute.
